I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali recorded an increase of airplane passengers up to 56 percent during the Christmas and New Year. From December 17, 2021, to January 4, 2022, the number of passengers reached 406,682. It is a jump from the same period last year, when there were 260,476 passengers.
General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I, Herry Sikado revealed that the highest flow of departing and arriving passengers occurred on December 19, 2021, which was 28,975 passengers.
“Meanwhile, the return flow at the end of the period occurred on January 2, 2022, with 24,731 passengers,” said Herry Sikado.
Although the number of passengers increased, Herry admitted that the movement of domestic aircraft departing and arriving at Bali Airport decreased by 6.15 percent in comparison with the previous year.
During the New Year and Christmas period, there were 3,299 flight. In the same period last year, the number of flights reached 3,515.
“I am optimistic that the level of visits this year will increase, therefore I ask for cooperation and synergy to continue to improve services,” added Herry Sikado.
