The tourists want to pamper themselves again after lockdowns. This can be seen from the accommodation choices of tourists on New Year’s Eve 2022. For in Indonesia, tourists consistently choose four and five-star hotels to celebrate the turn of the year. The same consistency also applies to travelers in Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, and Vietnam.
Meanwhile, tourists in Taiwan and Thailand prefer to stay at four- and five-star hotels rather than one- to 3.5-star accommodations. However, in India, one to 3.5-star hotels remain popular with tourists.
Agoda’s vice president of corporate development, Tim Hughes, said that tourists’ interest in vacations was growing thanks to the reopening of businesses on New Year’s Eve in major cities.
“This year also, tourists take advantage of offers to upgrade to 4-5 star hotels, seen in Taiwanese and Thai tourists who choose higher-star hotels this year, as well as Indonesian, Malaysian, Filipino, Korean and Vietnamese tourists who want to have more fun,” said Hughes.
