President Joko Widodo wants Bali to become a world health tourism destination. He conveyed this when he inaugurated the laying of the first stone for the construction of the Bali International Hospital in Denpasar.

Jokowi hopes that the hospital will become a reference for treatment of patients from various countries. Thus, the number of visits to Bali will also increase.

Jokowi said that the hospital will be built on an area of 41.5 hectares and will implement the international standards. The hospital was established in collaboration with the Ministry of state-owned enterprises and the Mayo Clinic in the United States.

Bali International Hospital was built to improve health services for the community. Jokowi said that so far 2 million Indonesians travel abroad for treatment every year.

“If this happens, our people, our people, will no longer go abroad to get health services,” added Jokowi.

“And not only our people will not go out, but outsiders will enter Indonesia to get health services,” he added.

Jokowi predicts that the construction of the Bali International Hospital will take about two years. He said that this hospital would operate in mid-2023.
