The government, through the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian has allowed regions to implement the Covid-19 vaccination for 6 to 11 years old children on December 24, 2021.
This is stated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 66 of 2021 about Prevention and Control of Corona Virus Disease 2019 at Christmas in 2021 and New Year in 2022.
The Ministry of Home Affairs is giving instructions to regional heads during the Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022 period from December 24, 2021, to January 2, 2022. One point is child vaccination.
The regulation explains that areas that can vaccinate children must meet several criteria. Among these areas have reached the target of at least 70 percent of the first dose of vaccination. Then, at least 60 percent of the elderly must be vaccinated with the first dose.
The Ministry of Home Affairs also instructed regional heads to speed up the achievement of vaccination targets in their respective regions. The regulation targets the first dose of vaccination to reach the target of 70 percent and the second dose to reach the target of 48.57 percent of the total target.
“Especially vaccination for the elderly until the end of December 2021,” reads the regulation.
The plan for the Sinovac coronavirus vaccine program for children aged 6-11 years will only be carried out in 2022.
A spokesperson for Covid-19 Vaccination from the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, plans that the new government will vaccinate for 6-11 years at the earliest in January or February 2022.
