Residents around Jalan Taman Sakura Blok E Nomot 13, Jimbaran Village, South Kuta District, Badung, were shocked by the death of a resident named I Komang Supriasta, 39, due to hanging himself, Sunday (20/6).

The victim was found dead by his wife, Ni Wayan Sutarmini, 34 when she came home from work last Sunday morning at 08.00. The victim hanged himself with a black scarf.

The Head of the South Kuta Police, Kompol Agustinus Yusak Agustinus Sooai, confirmed yesterday afternoon that he was reluctant to provide information regarding the horrendous incident. He admitted that the South Kuta Police were still investigating the case.

“I have to explore the background of the problem first. We are currently still conducting an investigation. I can’t explain yet, because it’s still being studied,” said Commissioner Yusak, confirmed by telephone yesterday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Denpasar Police, Iptu I Ketut Sukadi, said that based on reports from members in the field, Komang Supriasta was found hanging himself from the ventilation in the bedroom.

At that time his wife, Wayan Sutarmini, had just come home from work. When found, the victim was hanging facing west and was already stiff. The victim did not wear a shirt and only wore shorts. At that time, the victim was alone at home.

According to Iptu Sukadi, when she arrived at the house, Wayan Sutarmini could not enter the house because it was locked.

“The victim’s wife managed to get into the house by prying open the door. His wife was surprised to see the victim was stiff in a hanging position with a shawl around his neck in the room,” he said.

The incident was immediately reported to the South Kuta Police. Receiving the report, the South Kuta Police immediately went to the scene to investigate the crime scene and interrogate the witnesses.

“The preliminary results of the crime scene did not find any signs of violence on the victim’s body. The victim’s family is sorry for the death of the victim,” he said.
