The Ministry of Health has scheduled the arrival of the Novavax and Pfizer coronavirus vaccines from June to July 2021.

The government hopes that the arrival of the two vaccine brands will help to accelerate the national vaccination program in the second semester or June-December 2021. The current government vaccination program still relies on Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines.

“The plan for June is Novavax, yes, this is still confirmed. Pfizer is planned for July,” said the spokesperson for vaccination from the Ministry of Health.

Indonesia has so far secured 75,9 million doses of the vaccine that have arrived in the country. 68,5 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine, 6,4 million doses of AstraZeneca through the Covax Facility, 500 thousand doses of Sinopharm for the Mutual Cooperation Vaccine program, and 500 thousand doses of Sinopharm from the United Arab Emirates.

For the national vaccination program so far the government has determined four brands of vaccines to be used: Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Novavax.

For the Mutual Cooperation vaccination program Sinopharm, CanSino, Sputnik V, and Anhui Zhifei Longcom brands will be used.

The government has guaranteed that the vaccines used in the two vaccination programs are safe and have passed an examination test from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

Overall, the government has committed to securing around 426,8 million doses of vaccine from four foreign pharmaceutical companies for vaccinating 181,5 million Indonesians.
