Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan intensified the Work From Bali program for the ministries under his coordination. Ministry employees will carry out their work from the island of Bali.
According to Luhut, this can help to optimize the recovery of tourism in Bali. Especially to encourage hotel occupancy in Bali.
Luhut has also signed a memorandum of understanding to support the provision of accommodation in The Nusa Dua Bali area, Tuesday (18/5/2021).
“This memorandum of understanding was made as an effort to support the improvement of tourism in The Nusa Dua Bali with the principles of Good Corporate Governance. It will apply to seven ministries and institutions under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment,” explained Luhut in his statement.
At least 16 hotels in The Nusa Dua area managed by the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) will collaborate in providing accommodation and hotel facilities with the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment.
The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, who was also present at the signing, hopes that this program can attract government employees, even the private sector, to work from Bali. That way, it can help boost the level of hotel occupancy in Bali.
“Work From Bali hopefully can attract professionals in the government sector and the business world, to ensure an increase in the rate of hotel visits,” Sandiaga said.
The Nusa Dua area itself is confirmed to have obtained a healthy and safe tourism certification, in the form of a Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) certificate from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.
Currently, ITDC and local stakeholders are completing vaccinations for nearly 10.000 tourism and creative economy actors in The Nusa Dua area and the communities around the buffer villages.
The Work From Bali program itself has been mentioned by Sandiaga since last February.
Sandiaga had mentioned that in March, the market potential for the Work From Bali program was enormous. At least you can initiate between 5.000 and 7.500 people to work from Bali.
The potential for the market from this work program from Bali comes mostly from people who live in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi. In addition, there is also potential from other cities such as Surabaya and so on.
