Caught While Stealing Donations a Thief Was Judged by the Locals

The perpetrator of the theft of a sesari religious donations box, I Nengah Mustika, 46, was judged by residents after he was caught stealing sesari religious donations money at Utama Mandala Pura Penataran Agung Catur Pareahyangan Ratu Pasek temple, in Banjar Punduk Dawa, Pesinggahan village, Klungkung, on Wednesday (5/3).

The perpetrator was even beaten by the mob until he broke his bone because he was desperate to fight back and tried to run away after he was caught.

The amount of sesari religious donations taken by the perpetrator Nengah Mustika at the temple, on Wednesday morning at around 05.00, reached Rp 3 million. The sesari box was put by him into a plastic bag.

I Nengah Mustika works daily as a construction worker and lives on Jalan Gatot Subroto II D3 / 2 Denpasar Utara.

The guardian of Pura Penataran Agung Catur Parhyangan Ratu Pasek, Jro Mangku Gede Nengah Sadia, said that there had been several cases of losing money every day. Because of that on Tuesday (4/5) night, 4 people attended the Penataran Agung Catur Parhyangan Ratu Pasek temple.

Then on Wednesday at dawn at around 5:00 a.m. local time, the guards saw someone at the temple, with suspicious movements. The unidentified person was seen trying to open the box while breaking the lock.

When he was about to be secured, the perpetrator Nengah Mustika tried to fight back and tried to escape. The perpetrator was beaten by the mob until he broke his right leg, so he had to be rushed to Klungkung Hospital in Semarapura for treatment.

The perpetrator admitted to the police that he had repeatedly stolen boxes every day at several crime scenes in Bali. Especially at the Pura Penataran Agung Catur Pareahyangan Ratu Pasek, the perpetrators had stolen a total of Rp. 150 million, which he used to buy land.

For his actions, said AKBP Bima Aria, the suspect, Nengah Mustika, was charged with Article 363 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code regarding the theft, with a maximum penalty of 7 years in prison.
