Hotline service for those who intend to commit suicide has now arrived in Bali. This service is named LISA which is an acronym for Love Inside Suicide Awareness.
The LISA hotline service was launched by the Bali Bersama Bisa community on March 28, 2021, and started operating on April 6, 2021.
The Bali Bersama Bisa community itself is a combination of eleven communities consisting of the Movement of Recovery (MOR), the Friends of Good Community, the Bali Bipolar Community, the Love community. and Strong Women, the Teratai Blind Community (Kostra), the Indonesia Simpul Bali Schizophrenia Care Community (KPSI) Rumah Berdaya, and others.
“In a pandemic-like situation, 93 percent of mental and mental health service facilities are closed in Indonesia, even though the fact is that 80 percent of people in Bali also lose their jobs and make them restless and depressed,” explained the Chairperson of the Bali Bersama Bisa Foundation, I Wayan Eka Sunya Antara, Monday (3/5/2021).
Currently, LISA has 35 volunteers or what is also known as support buddies. In addition, LISA also serves in Indonesian and English.
This service can also be accessed via WhatsApp chat or telephone for 24 hours non-stop.
“Currently there are 35 support buddies. Five of them are professionals, while 15 others are Indonesians and 15 are foreigners. We are currently arranging permits related to this matter to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, ”explained I Wayan Eka Sunya.
There is something unique about these support buddies. Some of them are blind. This is because the LISA base camp is temporarily in the same base camp as the Kostra in Gang Betet number 17, Sesetan, South Denpasar.
“That’s a cool and extraordinary thing. Sometimes some of the people we serve do not know that it is blind people who are helping them. We also train our support buddies from Kostra, “explained I Wayan Eka Sunya proudly.
After a month of running the LISA, the service has been accessed by dozens of people. These people are not only from Bali but also from outside Bali.
In the future, LISA will cooperate with the emergency call 112 Denpasar.
The existence of LISA is expected to help educate the public about the importance of mental health without any particular stigma. In addition, the existence of LISA can also help and rescue people.
