Bali Governor Wayan Koster stated that two new variants of the coronavirus, B.1.351 and B.1.1.7, had been found in Bali. To anticipate its spread, the local Health Office (Dinkes) traces the close contact of infected patients to carry out epidemiological investigations.
“Regarding this case, the Bali Provincial Health Office is conducting an epidemiological investigation of several people who had close contact with the victim, so that the potential risk of spreading it will be known in detail and completely,” said Koster in Denpasar, Bali, Tuesday (4/5).
Koster reminded all people to obey the Circular (SE) of the Governor of Bali Number 7 of 2021 concerning the Extension of the Enforcement of Village-based Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in the new era of life in Bali Province.
“Stay orderly and disciplined in implementing a healthy and Covid-19 free lifestyle with 6M, namely, wearing standard masks properly, washing hands, maintaining distance, reducing travel, increasing body immunity, and obeying the rules,” he explained.
In addition, each event must limit the number of participants, always be careful, and be full of vigilance in its every implementation, both governmental, customary, religious, artistic, cultural, and social activities as well as other community activities.
Then, the public is encouraged to take part in the Covid-19 prevention vaccination program carried out by the provincial government together with district and city governments.
“To regents, mayors, sub-district heads, village heads, village heads, and traditional village heads throughout Bali as well as all components of society to continue tirelessly making serious efforts by taking steps together to work together to prevent the spread of Covid-19, in particular. a new variant of the Covid-19 virus, “he said.
Previously, Koster stated that a new variant of the Covid-19 virus mutation was found on the island of Bali. He received direct information from the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia on Monday (3/5), that two positive people for Covid-19 were found, who were infected with a new variant of the Covid-19 virus mutation, on the island of Bali.
One person is positive for the new variant from South Africa with code B.1.351, while another person is positive for the new variant from England with code B.1.1.7. This was discovered after several samples from positive people with Covid-19 at Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar, were tested by the Health Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.
“One person who tested positive for Covid-19 with a new variant from South Africa has been declared dead at Sanglah Hospital, he comes from Badung Regency. The victim has not participated in the vaccination program,” he said.
“Meanwhile, another person who tested positive for Covid-19 with a new variant from England was declared cured, in good health, and has been discharged. The concerned person happened to have participated in the vaccination program twice,” he said.
