Regent of Klungkung I Nyoman Suwirta removed cigarette advertisements in several shops in Dusun Payungan, Desa Selat, Kecamatan Klungkung, Thursday (29/4).

The removal was carried out after the Regent Suwirta reviewed the renovation of houses in the local village.

Cigarette billboard stickers were 45 cm x 30 cm in size. Without waiting long, the Regent Suwirta asked the shop owner for permission to take off the cigarette billboard stickers.

Regent Suwirta reminded the stall owner not to try to stick/put up cigarette billboards again. Klungkung has pledged itself to be an orderly area without smoking areas (KTR).

This is evidenced by the enforcement of Perda No. 1 of 2014 on KTR, Perbub No. 5 of 2016 concerning cigarette billboards, and implementation of KTR and Regent Decree No. 22 of 2017 concerning the KTR Guidance Team.

Regent Suwirta also asked cigarette distributors and suppliers not to put up cigarette billboards in stalls and kiosks in Klungkung. The Regent assigned all village heads and their staff to clean up all cigarette billboards that were still in the stalls and kiosks.

This step is an effort to keep the young generation free from cigarette smoke and to encourage the people of Klungkung to live healthy without smoking.

“It turns out that there are a lot of cigarette billboards that are installed. Don’t let this bill attract young people to smoke so that they become smokers,” he said.
