The Bali Civil Police (Satpol PP Bali) are looking for a married couple who created a viral Instagram post about entering Indonesia without going through quarantine during the pandemic. A foreign woman and her husband are suspected of being in Bali.

“We are coordinating with the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights to find out where they are,” Bali Chief Police Officer Dewa Darmadi said Thursday, April 29.

He did not comment on the procedure for investigating the case of foreigners who have just arrived in Indonesia.

“We regret and feel offended by these posts, which make them seem invulnerable to the law and capable of deceiving officers,” he added.

Darmadi said that such a confession of a foreign woman, which was published through her Instagram account, is considered an insult to law enforcement officers, the task force to combat COVID-19, and the people of Indonesia. It also damaged the image of Indonesia, especially Bali.

“The government is campaigning to maintain order in Bali, but there are one or two people who are deliberately destroying it and creating the impression that the program is not being implemented correctly in Bali,” he explained.

He added that the move hurt the Balinese, who had hoped that international tourism could be opened on the island in July 2021.

Earlier on Instagram, a post was published by a foreigner who claimed that she entered Indonesia without going through quarantine. She uploaded this confession to her Instagram account on Wednesday, April 21st. She added that she arrived in Jakarta with her husband on April 21.

“I managed to avoid a five-day quarantine,” she said.

Judging by the photos uploaded to her account, the foreigner is now in Bali. From a certain point, Elena Butuzova, who figured in the scandal, closed her account for external visitors.
