I Putu Arya Wijaya, a 25-year-old Balinese man, was arrested on Tuesday, April 27 near Drupadi Street in Seminyak. He previously took part in an incident in which he beat a 47-year-old Italian citizen Federico Gioli and broke his leg.

I Putu Arya Vijaya confessed to the police that he was agitated because an Italian insulted him with the word “fuck”.

The head of the Kuta Police Criminal Investigation Department, Made Putra Yudistra, confirmed that the incident took place on a street in Camplung Tanduk in front of the Cosebelle Multiconcept store in Seminyak on Sunday 25 April at around 4:00 pm.

Having received a report of the incident, the Kuta police criminal investigation officers promptly conducted an investigation.

Police checked the CCTV footage around the scene and obtained a recording of the offender’s motorcycle license plate, namely a Yamaha X-Max DK 3450 FAC. The perpetrator was found and arrested on Tuesday, April 27th.

“The victim, who was severely beaten by the perpetrator, underwent treatment at the Siloam Hospital in Kuta. The victim has abrasions on his right knee, abrasions on the elbows, and his left knee is broken. The victim has already returned home,” Yudistira said.

Yudistira explained that I Putu Arya Vijaya admitted his actions. He beat up a foreigner because he was annoyed that a truck hired by an Italian had blocked Champlung Tanduk Street for a long time when he was about to drive there.

Upon learning that the truck had stopped to pick up the trash belonging to the Italian, the offender approached him.

I Putu Arya Vijaya heard the foreigner said the word “fuck”. Not accepting harsh words, the Balinese grabbed the victim by the collar and beat him, hitting the man on the asphalt.

After beating the victim, I Putu Arya Vijaya simply left the crime scene. The victim was taken to the Siloam hospital for medical help.

“The suspect has been charged under Article 351 of the Criminal Code with a threat of up to two years and 8 months in prison,” Yudistira added.
