Bali Provincial Satpol PP (civil police) officers have examined a pair of foreign nationals who went viral for painting a mask to trick a security guard at a supermarket. Satpol PP recommended that the two of them be deported.
“Today we deliver a letter of recommendation to Immigration including an examination report,” said Head of Satpol PP Bali Dewa Darmadi, Monday (26/4).
The two foreigners who were recommended to be deported were a Taiwanese citizen named Lin-Chi Chen alias Joshua (32) and a Russian citizen named Leia Se (25). Both were considered to have violated health protocols and provided bad examples through prank video content.
“He violated the prokes. And they were immediately (recommended to) be deported because they had violated the health program in Bali. And the effect was very negative, had an impact on other communities, and was harassing and we immediately asked for deportation,” he said.
Darmadi said that Lin-Chi Chen and Leia Se deliberately created the video content. They also get royalties from the viral content.
Currently, the two foreigners are still in their villa.
“This means that physically they are still free and administratively passports have been held by Immigration. So they can’t go anywhere,” said Darmadi.
Based on the inspection of Satpol PP officers, Lin Chi Chen and Leia Se have written three videos about masks.
“In January they used bras as masks, the second in early April using socks as masks, and the third they painted a mask of Leia’s face,” he added.
The three contents were made in the same location, namely at the supermarket in Tibubeneng, North Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali. They tricked the security guard.
The two foreign tourists claimed to be close friends. They came to Bali for holidays and make videos to entertain and upload them on their Facebook account.
However, due to the negative response from netizens, they deleted all the video content.
“The goal was only to entertain, he said, and there was no intention of harassing. But from the results of the content they create, it creates unrest in Bali because it is the barometer of tourism,” he said.
As reported, the behavior of foreigners in Bali has returned to the spotlight and has gone viral on social media.
In the video, you can see that a foreign couple tries to enter the supermarket but the security guard does not allow it because the woman is not wearing a mask. They both finally make a painting on a woman’s face resembling a mask and manage to trick the security guard.
