The number of Balinese people who have received the coronavirus vaccine has reached 600 thousand. This is 20% of the 3 million citizens that planned to be vaccinated to achieve herd immunity on the island.
Of these 600 thousand, 200 thousand have already gone through the second phase of vaccination.
The vice-governor of Bali, Cok Ace, clarified that today the percentage of vaccinated citizens in Bali is the highest among all provinces of Indonesia.
The acceleration of the vaccination process is due to the plan to open Bali to foreign tourists in July.
“The UNESCO team that visited Bali two weeks ago was very pleased with what we have done in the fight against Covid-19,” added Cok Ace.
He said the World Health Organization is also considering holding an annual meeting in Bali in June.
“The central government is taking this step seriously. If it is done, it will have a good impact on Bali,” the vice governor added.
