Mengwi Police Team summoned Purwadi, 62, in Banjar Penamparan, Jalan Gunung Andakasa, West Denpasar District, Thursday (8/4).
The man from Jalan Raung Number 6, RT 004/RW 003, Singotrunan Village, Banyuwangi, East Java was arrested for breaking a villa.
The head of Mengwi police, The Adjunct Police Commissioner Putu Diah Kurniawandari confirmed on Friday (9/4) that the suspect’s arrest was based on a report from an Irish national, Houghton Mathew, 49.
The victim reported experiencing theft at his place at Villa Joglo II, Banjar Pengembungan, Pererenan Village, Mengwi District, Badung on 18 November 2020.
“Initially the victim did not think there was a theft in his room. At 3:15 a.m. the victim woke up to take food from the refrigerator. The victim was suspicious because the table shelf in the living room was messy. After being checked, it turned out that the laptop, cellphone had been lost. The total loss was around Rp. 8 million, “said Putu Diah.
Receiving the report, the Mengwi Police Team led by the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Iptu Ketut Wiwin Wirahadi, conducted the crime scene processing. Information was obtained from the perpetrator named Purwadi and another person with the initials RH.
The two of them were hunted down to Banyuwangi. But to no avail. Later, it was found that the suspect Purwadi lived in Banjar Penamparan, West Denpasar District. Finally, he was arrested on Thursday (8/4).
“One of the other actors with the initials RH is still in a search list,” said AKP Putu Diah.
As a result of the investigation, the suspect Purwadi admitted that he had acted with his friend RH. The perpetrator entered the villa by climbing the villa wall on the west side then entering the living room whose door was not locked. All the stolen goods have been sold. The money is used for everyday purposes.
Evidence that was secured was 1 unit of Samsung A10 cellphone, a pair of black rubber shoes with white trim, 1 gray jacket.
The suspect charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning Theft by Imposing the threat of a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
