Russian foreigner Andrei Kovalenko alias Andrew Ayer was included in the Red Notice in 2015 because in Russia he was involved in the trafficking of 146 kg hash-type narcotics.

Special Class I Immigration Office Ngurah Rai, Jimbaran, South Kuta District, Badung, deported a Russian foreigner, Andrei Kovalenko alias Andrew Ayer via Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Jakarta on Tuesday (23/3) afternoon.

Apart from being deported, the Interpol fugitive was also put on the block list.

Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Bali Province, Jamaruli Manihuruk, explained that the deportation of Andrei Kovalenko was carried out on Tuesday at 13.00.

The foreigner in question flew from Bali using a Citilink plane with flight number QG-685 from Ngurah Rai International Airport, Tuban, Kuta District, to Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Jakarta. Then, from Jakarta, he was deported to his country, Russia, with the airline Singapore Airlines with flight number SQ-965.

“In the process of deportation, the Ngurah Rai Immigration officer accompanied the foreigner to Jakarta. Then the handover was carried out with the Interpol officer escorting the foreigner to Russia, “said Jamaruli on Tuesday (23/3).

The Russian foreigner entered the Red Notice in 2015 after being involved in a 146 kg case of hashish narcotics, which were divided into two packages weighing 88 kg and 58 kg, respectively.

Then the Russian police found out about Andrei Kovalenko’s whereabouts in Indonesia. After that, they coordinated with the National Police Headquarters to make an arrest.

“He faced 20 years in prison in Russia. However, the foreigner fled to Indonesia. That’s why Interpol asked for help to arrest him, “he said.

On February 3, 2021, Andrei Kovalenko was handed over to the Special Class I Immigration Office of TPI Ngurah Rai to be deported and proposed to be banned. This was done after he finished serving a criminal sentence for 1 year and 6 months at the Class IIA Kerobokan Prison.

“When he was about to be transferred to the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center, on February 11, 2021, he fled, assisted by his girlfriend named Ekaterina Trubkina,” said Jamaruli.

After escaping for several days, the joint Bali Police and Immigration team arrested the foreigner in the Canggu area, North Kuta, on February 24, 2021.

“Andrei Kovalenko has been in detention for 28 days, of which 6 days in the immigration detention room of the Special Class I Immigration Office of Ngurah Rai TPI since 24 February 2021 and since March 1, 2021, he was entrusted to the Class IIA Bangli Narcotics Penitentiary for 22 days, “said Jamaruli.
