A Recidivist Stabbed the Veterinarian for Calling Him Weak

A veterinarian named I Made Kompyang Artawan alias Dipa (47) was killed by his hamlet neighbor, Ida Bagus Ketut Alit Surya Ambara alias Gustut (39). Gustut has been arrested by the police and is being investigated further.

“There has indeed been an incident of severe persecution that caused the victim to die and we have succeeded in securing the perpetrator,” said Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tabanan Police, Aji Yoga Sekar through a written statement, Wednesday (24/3/2021).

The murder incident occurred on Tuesday (23/3) at 18.30 in the Banjar Dinas Darma Kelod, Riang Gede Village, Penebel District, Tabanan Regency, Bali. Gustut was determined to kill the neighbor because he was offended by the victim’s words.

“The perpetrator was offended by the victim’s words because he was said to be very weak,” said Aji Yoga Sekar.

Gustut immediately attacked the victim using a pocket knife. The victim suffered wounds on his back and neck.

“The victim resisted but in the end, he fell. The victim was assisted by residents and brought to the Tabanan Regional Hospital. However, the results of the medical staff’s examination, the victim was declared dead,” said Aji Yoga Sekar.

The perpetrator was detained at the Tabanan Police detention center for further investigation regarding the murder case. Gustut is suspected of violating Article 338 of the Criminal Code, a subsidiary of Article 351 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code concerning persecution which resulted in the death of a person with the threat of a maximum imprisonment of 15 years.

The Tabanan Police seized several pieces of evidence in the form of a folding knife, a white motorcycle with police number DK-2036-GAF, and a white motorcycle with police number DK-6346-GAF.

“According to the results of the interrogation, the alleged perpetrator admitted his actions. And the results of the examination of the witnesses revealed that the perpetrator was a recidivist who had repeatedly served a sentence in a theft case in 1999, involved in lottery gambling in 2009,” said Aji Yoga Sekar.
