A married couple with the initials I Made Ariana (33) and Ni Putu Sekaradi (28) was arrested by officers from the Mengwi Police, Badung, Bali. They are accused of theft of a motorcycle NMAX to make up for the Avanza they had pawned.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Iptu Police, I Ketut Wiwin Wirahadi, said that IMA and his wife NPS committed theft at Villa Bali 1, Jalan Dalem Warung, Pererenan Village, Mengwi District, Badung Regency, Bali.
“The theft took place on Friday (25/12/2020) at around 08.00 WITA,” he said on Wednesday (3/3).
The theft began when a foreign guest, indian businessman and creator of an app BukuWarung, Abhinay Peddisetty rented a black Yamaha NMax motorcycle with number DK 2033 GAZ belonging to Samsu Akiya on December 19, 2020. He took the vehicle for a walk.
On December 24, 2020, at around 3:00 p.m. local time, Abhinay Peddisetty parked the motorcycle in the villa garage. The next day, he found that the vehicle was gone.
“For this incident, the victim reported the incident to the Mengwi Police Criminal Investigation Unit for further investigation. And the total loss was around Rp. 35,000,000,” explained Wirahadi.
The report was investigated by the police. The witnesses said that a woman with a rather tall height took NMax from that location. From the analysis at the TKP, the police identified a person as Ni Luh Putu Listyawati (27).
On Tuesday (2/3), the police secured the Ni Luh Putu Listyawati. However, the woman admitted that she was only ordered to take a motorbike by the NPS, a resident of Batuaji Kerambitan Village, Tabanan Regency, Bali.
The police immediately went to the NPS house. She was arrested and confessed to planning the theft with her husband IMA.
“It is true and she admits that she planned a theft with the perpetrator (IMA) who is her husband. They used a fake key,” said Wirahadi.
Based on the information from the IMA, he was indeed planning the theft. This man asked his wife to find someone to help pick up the motorbike.
The NPS asked the NLL for help. This woman stated that she was willing to get the motorbike.
On December 25, 2020, the two perpetrators met NLL at ACK, Tabanan Regency, Bali, at around 07.00. NLL piggybacked on the NPS towards the place.
Arriving at the end of the alley, NLL was asked to stop. He was given a key and told to change her helmet because there was a CCTV camera in the villa.
NLL walked towards the scene then took the motorbike. Next, she gave the vehicle to the NPS. Then NPS handed it over to her husband who was waiting east of Pura Dalem Warung Pererenan.
“IMA replaced the police number and the stolen STNK was also faked by the perpetrator, she obtained it online and printed it in a copy photo booth,” said Wirahadi.
From the development carried out, IMA turned out to be a recidivist. Previously he was involved in a cellphone theft case in 2016 and was sentenced to 4 months in prison. He also stole a motorbike and was arrested by the Tabanan Police in 2017 and sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison.
“The motive of the two perpetrators was to commit theft to sell and with this money to pay for an Avanza car that was pawned in the Renon area, Denpasar. The perpetrator admitted that the stolen motorbike was sold online in the Mahendradata area,” said Iptu Wirahadi.
