PT Wika Industri Manufaktur is targeting 2.000 units of battery-based electric motors produced in Jembrana Regency on land owned by Perusda Bali to be available by the end of 2021.

The Finance Director of PT Wika Industri Manufaktur (WIMA) Trihari Agus Riyanto said that his party is trying to make the finished product for battery-based electric vehicles on the Island of the Gods successful in the fourth quarter of 2021 with a target of 2.000 units

“We hope that all processes will run smoothly so that there will be finished product in the fourth quarter of 2021,” he said on Tuesday (23/2/2021).

According to him, after the production of electric vehicles runs smoothly and stably in Bali, further marketing will also be expanded outside the island, especially in eastern Indonesia.

The charging system for this electric motorbike battery will be carried out by PLN Bali. This includes the procurement of a Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU).

“We have collaborated with PLN regarding the PLN application system and the Gesits battery charging system related,” added Riyanto.

Regarding market potential, he is optimistic because there are about 3 million conventional vehicle users in Bali. So that electric vehicles produced by PT WIMA have a big opportunity to be absorbed by the market.

PT Wika Industri Manufaktur was established in 2018. This company produces battery-based electric motors under the Gesits brand and has a factory based in Cileungsi, Bogor, West Java.

Riyanto said that initially, the Gesits electric motorbike was the created by Garansindo team with the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology Surabaya (ITS).

In 2016 it has also passed a performance test on the route Jakarta – Bali (Tour de Java – Bali) which was part of the research.

In its development, PT WIMA is also supported by several business partners such as PT Pindad, PT Len, PT Wika Industri, and Konstruksi, PT Wika Industri Energi, and several other national private companies.

“This cooperation proves that Indonesian products can compete in terms of innovation and technology,” he added.

Trihari explained that the Gesit brand electric motorbike has several advantages such as 70 percent more efficient than conventional vehicles, zero emissions or environmentally friendly, and does not require a lot of maintenance.

As for this year, PT WIMA will build an electric vehicle factory on the Island of the Gods on an area of 106 hectares owned by the Bali Regional Company (Perusda), precisely located in Jembrana Regency.

Director of Business Development of Perusda Bali Bagus Gde Ananta Wijaya Karna explained that currently, the development of the electric vehicle industry in the Regency is still in the feasibility study stage and the implementation of land clearing.

Meanwhile, based on the plan, the ground breaking will occur in August 2021.
