An Australian Citizen Arrested for DMT Narcotics from Peru

The Bali Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) team arrested a foreign national (WNA) with the initials DC. The Australian citizen was apprehended for allegedly bringing in narcotics from Peru.
“Yes, we indeed arrested an Australian citizen with the initials DC who was carrying the DMT type of narcotics, ” said Head of the Bali National Narcotics Agency, Putu Agus Arjaya on Tuesday (16/2/2021).

Agus said that DC was arrested in the parking lot of Villa Sunshine Bali, Jalan Bumbak Dauh Gang Cambodia Number I, North Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali. It happened on Friday, January 22, 2021, at 10.30 WITA.

Bali BNNP managed to confiscate 1 packet of chocolate paste suspected of being a narcotic substance. The evidence weight was 990.84 grams gross.

Based on the results of the examination, the suspect said that the DMT was used for treatment. The suspect felt calm and comfortable after drinking the class I narcotics.

“The goods were sent from Peru through a delivery service company. DMT is packaged in paste resembling food lunkhead,” said Agus.

The Australian citizen has now been prosecuted and an investigation has been carried out by the Bali BNNP. The BNNP Bali is also completing a file to hand over this case to the prosecutor’s office.

The Australian citizen was suspected of Article 111 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2019 concerning Narcotics. He is subject to imprisonment between 4 and 12 years.
