The increase of domestic tourist arrivals to Bali was detected based on the data about the arrivals at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
The arrival of domestic tourists before the Chinese New Year holidays started increasing from February 10, 2021.
On February 10, arrivals at the domestic terminal had risen to 3,483 people.
This figure then increased to 4,207 people the next day, February 11, and to 4,344 on February 12, 2021.
Despite the increase, the number of domestic tourists visiting Bali during the Chinese New Year holidays has not matched the figures before the COVID-19 pandemic explained the Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Putu Astawa.
Also, according to Astawa, the increase in domestic tourist arrivals in a series of Chinese New Year holidays has not been able to increase the occupancy of hotel rooms on the Island of the Gods.
“Occupancy is still very small, still in the single digits, around 5 percent,” said the former Head of the Bali Province Industry and Trade Service.
Astawa hopes that the state of Bali tourism will soon improve during the COVID-19 pandemic.
